A sustainability journey
Steps to a more sustainable Future
At Howarth Timber Group we have made significant strides in instigating our sustainability journey. We are beginning to understand the requirements of us as a business to ensure sustainability is at the heart of everything we do and are actively engaging with stakeholders to make certain we can satisfy the needs of our customers from a sustainability perspective.
What we're doing:
- Adding solar panels to provide renewable energy. Currently at 20 locations around the country with the plans to install more.
- Switching our company car fleet to EV & Hybrid wherever possible
- Switching all lighting to LED either through retrofitting or replacement
- Trialling of electric side loaders instead of using conventional diesel
- Implemented a bespoke energy management system to track our utility usage more accurately across the Group. This will enable us to set intensity metrics and therefore set targets going forwards
- Developing a waste strategy to better quantify what happens with the waste we produce so we are able to ensure that we reduce the amount of waste going forwards
- Calculating the scope 3 emissions of our businesses to begin engagement with our supply chain
